Well, for instance, I don't recall all the details, but when I chose the =
scanner in SharpEye's list, one name was something like "HP1200Series", a=
 very straight up and plain english name. But when I chose this I got a v=
ery unfriendly interface.=20

However, There was a less obvious offering whose name sounded like garbag=
e, and only hinted at HP in some way. But this interface offers tab stops=
, and/or alt key presses which are exactly what we need. I hit alt b for =
black and white and alt s for scan. I can deal with that.  Better would b=
e for it all to just happen when we press alt F Q in SharpEye, but as I s=
aid, I can deal with these two extra keys, and unlike that old precision =
scan, we don't have to sit through a prescan image, then scan again to re=
turn  the image to SharpEye, a real time waster.

Thanks, John, for that info.  I'll bet that the HP 1200 has a different
software interface than Precision Scan or, perhaps, a more up-to-date
version of it.
