Because... That doesn't always work. A lot depends on which sound
card was installed first. It is easily fixed, though. One of the
Jaws techs told me this problem would be addressed in JFW8, but, I am
guessing he was misinformed.

Hmm. why not do what i do and set the recordin and playback devices in the ctrl pannel and then check the always use default devices box?
