When you installed CakeTalking 8.52, did you reinitialize the Jaws Control
Surface with Control f12.

Yes I'm sure I used alt 8 and not alt 9. And I also tried from the view
menu. And when I chose the synth rack from the menu it gets the same. I try
to press a to add a synth and then it tries to arm a track.

Are you sure you're pressing alt 8 and not i?

Alternatively, you can access the synth rack by pressing alt v and scrolling
down to synth rack view.
