Chi,
Here's the answers to your questions. First of all,
1. The best way to write drums is of course in your drum staff. And you
should first create the kick and snare. Then select the passage, and change
the kick and snare to voice 2. Voice 1 will then be a bunch of rests. Then,
in voice 1, write your hi hats, and cymbals. The appropriate noteheads will
be created automatically. Please read the Sibelius Speaking tutorial for all
the information about writing a drum part.
2. If you wish to change the notehead of an individual note, then press
ALT+SHIFT+ a number from the number row above the QWERTY section. Note that
some of the hotkeys, produce the same results as other of the hotkeys. The
following information is not for the faint of heart. Here's the key
assignments.
1. ALT+SHIFT+1 changes the notehead to a diagonal cross.
2. ALT+SHIFT+2 changes the notehead to an open diamond notehead.
3. ALT+SHIFT+3 changes the notehead to a slash, and eliminates the stem.
4. ALT+SHIFT+4 changes the notehead to a slash.
5. ALT+SHIFT+5 changes the notehead to a diagonal cross.
6. ALT+SHIFT+6 changes the notehead to a filled in diamond.
7. ALT+SHIFT+7 creates a stem without a notehead.
8. ALT+SHIFT+8 eliminates the stem and leaves the conventional notehead.
9. ALT+SHIFT+9 restores the normal notehead and stem.
Note that you can also hold ALT+SHIFT and press a number twice quickly, and
it will give you other types of noteheads. Here they are.
1. ALT+SHIFT+double 1 puts a diagonal slash through the notehead.
2. ALT+SHIFT+double 2 changes the notehead to an inverted triangle.
3. ALT+SHIFT+double 3 eliminates the stem from a normal notehead.
4. ALT+SHIFT+double 4 changes the notehead to a right triangle, with its
hypotenuse pointing to the left and at an angle of 45 degrees to the staff
line.
5. ALT+SHIFT+double 5 changes the notehead to a diagonal cross.
6. ALT+SHIFT+double 6 changes the notehead to an equilateral triangle with
a vertex pointing up.
7. ALT+SHIFT+double 7 changes the notehead to an open diamond notehead.
8. ALT+SHIFT+double 8 changes the notehead to an equilateral triangle with
the vertex pointing down.
9. ALT+SHIFT+double 9 changes the notehead to a diagonal cross.
That's it. Merry music making.
David Pinto.
