Just ask away, we'll try our best to help, don't mind asking the same
question once or twice, these lists are so busy that sometimes we are in a
rush and we just look for particular threads or messages to read and
sometimes we just skip over other e-mails, specially if you are a new
member...

Subject: [ddots-l] Reaching Out

Hi, all

I've not been on this List for very long, but I've noticed the general
willingness to answer people's questions and give advice, for which I thank
those who take the time to do so. However, since joining, I've myself have
asked a few questions which, apart from a single respondent, have fallen on
deaf ears
and I'm wondering why this could be.

I'm at the very beginning of my Sonar journey and, as I am multi-impaired
and work full-time for New Zealand Public Radio, (which has a great deal to
learn regarding disability issues), I don't have a lot of energy to devote
to learning. Therefore, I'll need all the help I can get in order to make
any significant progress. I've never done multi-track audio editing before
and I've never used midi, so I am under no illusions about the amount or the
gradient of the learning curve. However, I did teach myself SoundForge with
only the manual and Jonathan Mosen's tuition tapes (the school used Cool
Edit and couldn't help me much), so I'm not incapable where time and energy
permit.

I'll need advice as to the type of equipment I purchase to start me on this
journey (it's more than I ever imagined), how to set it up, etc.

Perhaps there are those of you who've been in this industry so long and
can't remember starting out; but I implore you to remember those of us who
come behind, who are just as keen and who aren't afraid to say "I don't
know".

Any help or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Of course,
I'm only too willing to chime in where I feel such knowledge as I have may
be of benefit to someone.

Cheers

Kylee Maloney
