Now, when you guys quote a price per preamp, does that mean that one
preamp at about $1,000 or $3,000 supports one mic?  would you need one
for each mic being used in the session?

I have the Avalon 737 and it's the bet preamp on the market today
comparable to the Universal Audio gear.
 
It goes for about $1900.00 US dollars.
