Hi LaurieI purchased ProTools last year for the same reason i.e. it is the standard recording software used in the music industry. I had to learn how to use voiceover on the mac whilst trying to learn ProTools.
Although there has been work done on making ProTools accessible I have found it to be very inefficient as far as being able to access various functions quickly. It doesn't seem to have the shortcuts that caketalking and sonar offer which allow you to move to the track columns quickly etc. I intend to check out ProTools again some time but for the moment I'm sticking with Sonar.
Perhaps you could organise with the course provider to set up a work station with Sonar installed. I'm sure most of the same functions used in ProTools would be available in Sonar. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laurie Simpson" <simp749@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I was wondering about taking courses to become a recording engineer. In therecording industry, Protools is the big thing. -----Original Message-----From: ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalf Of Chris Smart Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 8:35 PM To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Off topic question about Pro-tools. ProTools is somewhat accessible on the Mac. You will have more access to MIDI and lots of plug-ins using sonar though. Were you thinking of taking ProTools college courses or something?
