[ddots-l] OT: DVD/CD issue on del desktop

Hi. This is sort of off topic, however, it's preventing me from installing
music software so in that sense, it is sort of on topic.

Del custom desktop, windows xp pro sp2, everything fully updated including
bios and drivers etc.

Anyways, I have five programs I want to install. Three are on DVD and the
others are on CD. When I put the disc in my drive though, it spins up but
nothing happens. It happens with all these discs as well as others
sometimes. Even after a reboot. The auto play dialogue box doesn't appear.
When I try to go into the start menu or open my computer etc, nothing
happens. If I try to explore the disc using the command line prompt, I get
an error saying the program is not responding. It's something called "drg
to dsc". Sometimes I get a box up that has a bunch of generic graphics but
I can't find out what this thing is for. It's not in the add/remove
programs list in control panel. It could be the roxeo drag to disc utility
but it's not in the startup folder etc. This may be causing it but I'm not
sure.

Has anybody come across this? It's very annoying.

I have to physically turn off my machine.

If I go into the task manager, I can't end the drg to dsc task. And, I
can't terminate the application.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cameron.
