[ddots-l] Re: Numeric keypad woes

Hey Dave,
I'm with you there, I have allwase liked useing my lap top fore all purpouss home and some day i hope, audio recording. My lap top is getting out of date but she is my baby. Whin i was computer shopping i wanted something that i could take on the road with me, and some people tryed to get me to get an exturnal key bord and even a nuther monitor. But i held my ground and it all ways worked out for me. I am just wateing for lap tops to offer up larger hard drives and I will start recording audio on one myself. A lot of session musicians use lap tops on the road to get sessions dun quicker and it seems to work out fore them.

Sorry to contradict everybody but I use a laptop keyboard setup and I think
it works fine. If I press the key to the right of the left control and to
the left ot of the windows key, with j k l etc, I can automate the panning
and volume of tracks and everything like that. I've never needed to suse the
number row for anything else but automation. HOwever a USB keyboard
would certainly make life a little easier, but I like a challenge, which is
why I am typing this email with my hands tied behind my back.
That explains the typing mistakes!

Yours contradictingly
Dave

Chris:
Unfortunately, no. WHile it is always a drag to have to tell folks they
need to spend more money to stay in the game as it were, in this case,
you'll need to try to put things into perspective. If you've already
spent
hundreds of dollars purchasing Sonar and cake talking, another $60 or so
for
a full-sized keyboard is going to go a long way toward making it possible
to
gain the full functionality of your investment. You can think of it in
terms of somebody buying a nice car and then puting cheap gas in the tank.
The car will not perform as it should.
