Well, you could look at a MOTU 2408 system. This has 8 analogue inputs and 8
analogue outputs on the breakout box. It also has 24 digital inputs and
outputs on the breakout box. So, if you had a digital desk then, you could
ether run 16 digital inputs, plus 8 analogue inputs. That would give you 24
inputs. You can also configure the outputs in the same way.
Or, you could run 24 digital inputs and outputs.
Or, perhaps you may wish to look at a different MOTU system. They do a PCI
card that attaches to a breakout box that has 24 analogue inputs and outputs.
Ether of those systems would only use up one PCI slot. So, you would have a
second free PCI slot which, you could use for a second sound card to run Jaws.

Subject: [ddots-l] Need help deciting witch Soundcards I need
Hello all again,
After the disaster with the Emu 1820M witch is 99,99% damaged I need now help
to decite whitch other Soundcards I should take.
Here is my Hardware Situation: I will have 1 PCI slot free from the Emu card
there could be pluged in one M-audio Delta 1010 witch I will do 99%. Then I
will have 8 in-and outputs. But I need more because I have 4 synties here and
also need to connect a mixer and a micro fone as well as an cd-player later on.
But I only have 1 Internal PCI-slot avalible.
So I think the best solution is to start with 1 Delta 1010 card at first and
buy an USB soundcard later on with the additional in-and outputs that I need. I
have wanted the Emu so much because it has all what I need to have.
Because of possible IRQ-problems I have disabled the Realtek AC.97 Audio
under Hardware, de-installed the software from the "ad/remove programs" sektion
and with help disabled the Onboard sound (AC.97) in the bios.
To hear jaws I have connected an USB-head set now witch is showing up in the
system correctly.
That may not be the best solution but for now it works.
So at last I would need 3 cards: 1 for Jaws, and 2 Delta 1010 or what ever
for my music system. I am sure that one of the 2 music cards will be an
usb-card or even an simple soundblaster connected via USB to hear jaws.
This are my thoughts what do you all think? Is there an USB sound card out
that will help me and feed my needs?
What else system setups would you recomend?
I want to use a solution witch is blind user friendly and where I can get
support from a few people who have the cards running. It has been such a mass
with the Emu card. But this is realy not emus fold I think. To be onest I think
the dealer wo installed the Emu made a mistake.
For all who are interessted here is my hardware setup again:
