yes you can delete wave files from the audio folder with windows explorer.
just be sure that it is audio that is no longer used by any project.
but i would not recommend deleting wave files one by one, because you can be
sure there are too many waves that are already not being used. because
everytime you record, punch in, bounce to clips bounce to tracks apply
effects, freeze, you are creating new wave files and the original ones stay
so you can make undo's , but once saving and reopening the project again
they will no longer be part of the project.
you can also use the clean audio disk feature but i personally don't like it
because it will search through all your partitions looking for sonar
projects and checking which wave files are not used by any project. then
it'll let you delete them but it takes years. and this will only be in
relation to one folder and if you have many audio folders and have to do it
for each one it's just crazy.
what i do is always use per project audio and when i want to clean my audio
folder for that project i just save the project as cwb bundle file and it
will trim all the audio data for that project and you can save it to a new
folder. and you can delete the old audio folder. but not in the case of a
global audio folder cause then you'll have audio from many projects in the
same place.
you have to be very careful when cleaning a global audio folder. but as a
rule ,any project i want to keep i will convert it to bundle and save it in
a finished projects folder in an external drive.

Guys,
Here's another question on my thread about cleaning out unwanted
wave files from synth freezes. I know you're not supposed to delete files
from the audio folder using Windows Explorer. However, if the files clearly
indicate the name of the cwp file to which they are attached and it says,
"soft synth bla, mix 42." Can you safely delete those and hear the file
when the cwp is reopened assuming that the entire contents of the file was
nothing but soft synths and contained no audio from other unretreavable
sources?
