Omar was using an 8 Pre and there definitely seem to be more issues with the
firewire MOTU offerings than the PCI/PCIE/USB offerings.
Best wishes.

i had a horrible time with the motu driver on my system. lol I forgot which
one i'd bought, but i didn't last more than two weeks with it. i'm using an
RME fireface now, and have no issues. so i know for certain that motu
drivers can be problematic.

track bounce?
Hi Phil. actually after two more restarts, the run time error
stopped and everything seems okay now.
The machine is an ADK rack mount quad core machine, I7 processor,
3gb ram, 4hds, etc. I do use it for net and office work too right now as I
only have one computer at present. But, I do have the latest version of
avast anti virus 4 home edition, from time to time I run NoAdware, and I use
reg scrub xp from time to time to sort registry issues.
Interface is Motu 896MK3.
The operating system is Win xp pro sp3 with all the latest updates
installed...
The machine itself is really solid. I was just making the comment
that windows is the weakest link in the chain when comparing it to Mac OS X.
One odd thing though is that once in a while when I am playing back
audio, whether it be in winamp, vlc, or in a sonar session, all of the
sudden, audio playback will stop, jaws stops, you get this really high pitch
sort of screechy white noise through the monitors connected to the motu, the
computer will freeze and you need to manually turn the machine off. that
appears to be the only thing that works to stop it. This could be more of a
motu driver issue perhaps? It doesn't happen every day or anything and it
didn't appear to happen when they installed and tested everything. I guess
I should call them back again about it.
Cameron.

when the dialogue box goes away and I'm back in the track view, as soon as I
arrow to a different track, I get an unexpected run time error dialogue box,
then sonar is shut down. Any idea what might be causing this?
Phil replied: Don't know however, I would post your findings to
Cakewalk. they are vary good at troubleshooting these kinds of issues and
would definitely want to know about crashes like this.
Cameron wrote: And as a side note, pro tools accessibility on the
Mac can't come fast enough. I am so sick of this crap. Why is it that when
you don't have any deadlines
etc, windows behaves but as soon as you need to get work done in a
timely manor, it goes mental? My low end second hand Mac from 12 years ago
was more stable than this top of the line custom built DAW,
Phil replied: I wouldn't count on it. I am sure that accessibility
or not, Pro Tools will still crash out on the Mac, smile. Also, you
couldn't do as much on your 12 year old Mac so that's hardly a fair
comparison, grin.
Cameron continues: the Win OS being the weak link in the chain I
believe. Sighs. Okay, rant over.
Phil replied: Hmm, not seeing any issues here running Windows XP SP3
Professional corporate here. talking of which, who built your DAW? Which
version of Windows do you have installed? Is your PC partitioned? Is it an
exclusively DAW machine or, do you have other applications on the same
partition such as Office etc and are you running all of the latest fixes
from Microsoft for your version of Windows?
