How about a stereo pair of AKG414's. Would those work for you? When it comes to recording vocals, they sure work wonders for me!

Great idea.

Shure are great low-cost mics, especially for live work, but there are lots of better choices for recording. others here can suggest some brands to check out. Do you want a dynamic or condenser mic? Solidstate or tube?
What is your budget?

Some fairly inexpensive options might include:
Rode NT 1a
Studio Projects C1
ElectroVoice RE20

If you want a stereo mic, some popular choices include:
Audio Technica AT822
Rode NT4
