I am assuming that they are accessible to someone like me who is still much of a novice. right?

I never use the sonitus reverb. I don't think it comes close, and there are quite a few that sound a lot better, including the one that comes with the korg legacy pack digital edition. Studio ver II that comes with projectV is also pretty good.
