Hi.  If I had a mac book pro there would be.  But the lower end mac books
don't have any card slots.  If it had, I would have done that.

That was what I did with my old dell laptop for a few years and it worked
great.

Cameron,

Is there a PCMCIA port or a PC Express port on the Mac?  If so, why don't 
you just get a FireWire card that utilizes the T I chip set?  There are 
several out there, so I'm sure you should be able to do that much more 
readily then having a modification done to the main system board of the Mac.
