Mike, The preamps in the FW-1884 are class (A) and are great. I had just needed 16 class (A) analogue inputs for my studio. With the FW-1884 I can have 16 analog and 2 digital inputs at one time. I use the Personas Degemac 96K for my additional 8 ADAT inputs for the FW-1884. Sincerely, Sean A.
