Go to options audio and run the wave profiler and se if you have any luck. Also, set the driver profile to ME instead of WDM or ASIO. When I contacted gateway where I originally purchased the computer, they said that there is no update driver for crystal audio for win xp. Anyway, I can play sound from windows media player be it midi or wav etc... However when I installed Sonar, it gave me an error message about intel(r)1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 that is not working properly, and giving a choice whether to disable or continue regardless. Since I don't know what this message is about, I chose to continue regardless. Then it asked to set midi devices, in which I selected 401 device as top devices on i/o. It didn't work. I kept switching the output from 401 to the ms mapper thing. It still didn't work. Anyway I restarted Sonar, and it again gave me the initial error message about disabling the intel(r) etc... this time I did disable it. It still didn't work.. But I can still play my sounds with media player... Your help is appreciated.
