      Step 1. I wrote the song on my gitar and the arrangements on a Roland E15 
used as a MIDI keyboard....

      This song had drums, bass, and acoustic guitar tracked in a studio. All 
vocals, electric guitars, percussion, and cello were tracked with an MBox. Mics 
used for electric guitars were the SM57, AKG C3000, and RE-20. For the cello, I 
used an SM81 up close and an AKG C3000 a few feet back. Percussion was tracked 
with the C3000. Vocals used the RODE NT2000....

overdubs done on an MBox. For the lo-fi guitar sound of the intro, we plugged 
into a tiny, broken-looking guitar amp in the studio, and turned the volume up 
all the way. It sounded terrible, just as we hoped....
