Well, there are a lot more frequencies than there are pitches. A tone that generates two "pitches," such as the North American dial tone mentioned in a previous post, has a ton of frequencies, including, if you hold the phone slightly away from your ear, an E flat one octave and a seventh above the F first space treble clef that was mentioned in the e-mail.
