steve thanks but that is not what i want. If you open a new sonar project and
use the normal track template it gives you 4 tracks. On the 1st track if you
arrow left, you find effect send 1 next to output, that is what i want to do, i
want to insert a effects send. If i press the app key it just gives me inser
audio or midi track, there is nothing like insert send.

Do you want to send various instruments to different buses?
1: First go in to your busses by holding down shift and press arrow down,
now name each bus track you need,
2: if you need extra busses, press Alt I to put you in insert and down arrow
until you here "Stereo Bus" now press enter and another bus will have been
added.
3: to send to a bus, first go back to the track pain by holding down shift
and press up arrow, now go to the track you want and move across your
columns in the track pain until you here bus column,
press enter on this and down arrow until you hear the bus name you wish to
send too then press enter again.
4: the busses themselves have a bus column so you can send busses through
other busses.
All busses except the master bus are set to the master bus by default. The
master bus will be set to your sound card outs. This also can be changed
which is useful if your sound card has more than just a left and right out.

Guys how do you set up a send in sonar, e.g. If you want to send part of a
signal to a bus, it's set up on the normal tracj template but i want to know
how to do it myself.

infact all sound card manufactures recommend ASIO.
Even the Roland UA 1010 audio capture which I have is operating under Asio.

I would switch to using ASIO drivers as they are generally the best option
at the moment for Focusrite gear. Not personally recommending this
interface as it's USB 1.1 which is not good for recording audio and
softsynthes with a high track count. Shame really as you can do a lot with
all of the hardware switches on the box E.G, turn a stereo source to mono
etc. Anyway, getting back to USB1.1, From the manual:
"Whilst Saffire 6 USB is a USB 1.1 device, the USB connection will work with
any USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 compliant connector on your computer."

Hi all, i just got my focusrite safire 6, i installed the drivers, plugged
it in and opend sonar. When i plug in a mic and get level it sounds as if
it's distorting and there's a slight delay, this happens at about -5 dB SO
I'M NOT TOO LOUD. I prosume it's a latency problem and i have no clue to fix
it, firstly in audio options at driver mode, which is best to select,
wasapi, wdm/ks, asio or mme 32 bit? Then the playback and record buffers are
set to 256, on the general tab it's set to 16 bit 44.1 KHz, buffers in
playback q is on 2 and buffer size is 5%. I would appriciate any help when
it comes to drivers, buffers and latency i'm a nobody.,
