As I said, I've been messin' around and figured out two things. 1:
Yes, templates are now my friends, and 2: when a new one is created,
its default save location is in the C:\Cakewalk Projects folder! I
thought that was rather odd. I found and renamed the original
Normal.CWT to something else and put my customized Normal.CWT in its
place. Now, when I open a new project, everything comes up assigned
the way I prefer, based on my hardware setup. Pretty neat.
