Dear Kevin,
Yes, you are correct ! You can assign as many of the tracks to any number of
sends. This includes the output section to the master output. There is
something not right with your system or perhaps you might just be over looking
something.
Did you try to press enter on the output button, then down arrow to your audio
device, and then use the right arrow to select the out puts from the audio
device list of available outputs? There also needs to be a master bus inserted
in the bus section for you to be able to assign the outputs from the tracts.
Your thinking is most definitely correct. You can also send the output of any
of the bus masters to be assigned to your main master bus; giving you full
control of your volume to your monitors or any other external device.
