The main hard drives in my DAW are both Seagate, although I've upgraded my main operating system drive, the two Seagate's have been firing perfectly for the last 7 years!

I don't think its a case of one make being better than another, its down to luck and how much you respect your kit?!

I've also got 2 Lacie 1TB external drives, and they've been working fine for the last 4 & 2 years respectively...

I remember someone telling me to avoid Lacie like the plague, but, well...

I had a 2TB, rather have a 2TB external Harddrive and it's a western
digital, but having problems with it. May need to order another. For
some reason Win7 sees it but will not let me open the drive to grab
data off, but Linux sees it and says the drive may need to be
replaced.

I believe he said segate? I've personally had bad experiences with them;
would probably choose 1 of the other major 3, wester digital, samsung or
hitachi, but that's my personal opinion.

A while back, there was a discussion on backup drives for archiving
critical
data. I seem to remember Bryan mentioning "Enterprise Class Drives. Does
anyone remember the drive Bryan recommended?
