That option only relates to the audio engine and what you hear. For
example, you press space to stop playback, and you hear the reverb tail
fade out instead of the audio abruptly cutting out. This does not at all
affect mix down.

Yeah, go figure?  If you'll notice that option is to allow effect tails 
to continue after playback stops and what I'm asking about is getting 
those effect tails to continue until they're done in the actual mixed 
down audio.  Fairly sure I mentioned that it was checked in the original

post anyway.  Try it for yourself.  Record something, anything, with an 
effect like delay or reverb, max it so it has a good long tail.  Play it

back in sonar, wait till it's done, then export the audio.  You'll hear 
that instead of fading out or doing whatever it does when you play it 
back, it gets cut off abruptly precisely where you stopped recording.
