Most of the Akai libraries are mid 90's stuff. There haven't been too many new
Akai libraries produced in the last 10 years or so, as anyone trying to make
huge sample libraries needs a PC to do it.

If you're converting Akai libraries, then you're basically trying to bring old
hardware sampler sounds to your DAW. There are some nice old sounds, but, on
the whole, they aren't going to sound like the new mega libraries that you've
heard.

As an aside, I think that one of the worst instruments that synths attempt are
horns. I've heard some solo versions that are pretty good. The Motif XS has
extra articulations for trumpet and sax that you can trigger left handed, as
well as sounding correct if you're playing legato, but you're never going to
get the real dynamics control out of a keyboard. Yamaha has that breath
controller device, but, after a certain point, you might as well go play the
real instrument. The VL-1 could do a great job with emulating horns, but, as I
said above, its just emulating solos.

I don't know. I guess it depends on what sort of sound you want. Are you trying
to find horn sections for doing unison punches in a pop song? Are you arranging
for a whole section? Yu just trying to play a solo? Maybe we can suggest
something that can work.

Keyboard also totally sucks at any orchestral solo strings (never enough
dynamics and glide control), accordion (could be better, but no one ever
bothers to program it), pedal steel (hardly anything has poly aftertouch
anymore in order to handle the independent string bends), and, to a large
extent, clav (synths don't respond fast enough to really do clav or virtual
analog stuff anymore). Most all of this can't be fixed with gigs and gigs of
samples.

Hi Omar,

What's the saxophones and trumpets like on Akai samplers? are they better than
the ones on dimension Pro?
got my horns section sounding quite good yet, it's still the weak link in my
songs.

I'd love to be using the samples found below however, don't believe they are
accessible.

Just enter on the link below go to MP3's, press enter on one of them, now press
cursor key and arrow up or down until you hear jaws say, "No information
available" press right mouse key and press enter. The MP3 should then play.
These samples are amazing.

Speaking of Akai, I just picked up an older akai s6000. Akai has
software on their site which enables users to work with the sampler
through windows. Software is called the aksys software. I've briefly
messed around with it with jaws, and it seems okay as far as
accessibility, although I had to use the jaws cursor for the most
part. Has anyone else messed with the software? If so, any feedback?
