I think that's extremely slow. By the way, that's ms as in milliseconds. You
should be seeing 5 or 10 ms, if not lower.

IN the control software for your Saffire interface, does it have a buffer
setting?  At 44.1KHZ, my interface's buffer setting can go down to 64
samples, but you can probably get the Saffire even lower, 48 or 32 samples.
