Ironically I will be in Washington state on the 28th so I’ll be emailing or
calling. (I do have the itch of connecting with a WA family member of a DB
person and supporting them.)
I will post this on the Austin area DB FB group. Jacqueline, are you also
forwarding this to DB Camp of Texas? What other organizations?
Edgenie, great idea about checking the distribution list from the last call-in
day. I’m sure we’re getting most of it but need to make sure.

I'm away from my computer so I can't easily search emails. Does anyone have
the email distribution list we develped during the Accelerating Change
training in Feb to gear up for the national call in day? That had a lot of
our partner organizations on there. Also, our friend Linda with P2P has
agreed to help us to set up appointments. She wants to know beginning and end
time and how many people can do this. For example, will there be enough for
more than one group of parents making the rounds? Thoughts?

And maybe we can share with other DeafBlind organizations and our wonderful
group of SSPs, Interpreters, and others that support our community. We need
to show our NUMBERS!
I am forwarding to a few folks that may be able to share with those groups.
Thanks so much Heather!

(Feel free to forward this.)
It’s out there now: we are targeting Thursday, July 28th for our Texas
family and friends contact day for the Cogswell Macy Act!
Texas has the 2nd largest population of 0-21 DeafBlind individuals and none
of our national-level legislators are sponsoring this bill. Let’s continue
to push the envelope to fix that!
Yesterday (7/18), a table surrounded by Texas parents and friends at the
NFADB symposium decided next week on July 28th was the day we get to work
promoting the Act, by e-mailing, calling or going in person to meet with our
US senators and congresspeople.
The date has been shared with attendees at the SWCED (statewide conference
on education of the deaf) breakout session on legislation, led by Kellie
Berger, today- July 28th!
Info on the Cogswell Macy Act and why we need it passed:
YouTube video created on behalf of families of DeafBlind children:
July 28th! Get heard, get seen on July 28th! If you have an adult
DeafBlind/blind/Deaf family member or yourself you still can help out- you
can share what a difference it would’ve made… or a difference it did make
after all and you want this to be a reality for each and every DeafBlind
student in our country, likewise for our blind, visually impaired, d/Deaf
and hard of hearing counterparts.
I will share this with the Deaf community, Texas Association for the Deaf
and Texas Hands and Voices. Can somebody forward this on to our friends in
the blind/VI community? AVIT? I would love to know if you do.
Let’s make a lot of noise!
