Sharing this with y’all, Texas Association for the Deaf’s letter to a local U.S. Representative, who happens to be mine as well, Roger Williams.

It warms my heart to see our blind associations adding DeafBlind people in their letters, as well as our Deaf associations taking our DeafBlind folks under their wing as well. We’re all in this together!

    Attention:  DBMAT

Just another reminder to all of you to call the Capital in
Washington DC or write your US Senators and Representatives, or
do both.  This bill is very important to the children coming
up.  They need qualified trained Interveners in the classroom
along with a qualified teacher for the deaf-blind. Please email
your letters and make those calls.

Thanks so much.  This will make a big difference in our kids lives.

    Dear all,

If you haven't received...or you have.... Please read my note
below.  This is so very important, and I hope our wonderful
families from DBMAT will support this.  We need to send our
    letters as soon as possible.

Please let your family members and friends know about your
children and the struggles they have had. Encourage them to

    your HELP!*

    Dear All,
I am not one to beg for help....but in this case...I am going
to swallow what pride I have left...and let me explain why.
The children that are deafblind here in the United States
deserve and are entitled to an appropriate public education. Anyone that knows me is aware that Christian didn't have that
opportunity until he was 20 years old.  However, he showed all
the nay sayers what he could do with the services of a trained
and experienced Intervener!  No one can take that away from
him.  He IS the reason I have spent these 15 years working to
    get the Intervener recognized.

Below, you will read that there is -FOR THE FIRST TIME-
Federal Legislation that could and should recognize the
Intervener in IDEA as a related service provider. Equally
important is to have Teachers of the Deafblind in IDEA to
    support the Intervener.

I am asking you to please write your Congressmen to support
the Cogswell Macy Act. House Billl 3535 today!

We have included a sample letter that you may edit as appropriate.

PLEASE take a few minutes to do this. Deafblindness isn't
going away.  These children need us to fight for them! It is
    the right thing to do.

Your letter or phone call matters!  Please let me know if you
have any questions.  Thank you so much for your support .

    Sincerely,

    Melanie Knapp
