I know this is true because copying files from RISC OS has stopped working again.
What would be interesting is if the version of Lanman has anything to do with this, I've not updated my Iyonix for a long time. Currently it shows me Lanman version 2.30, 16th. Feb 2004.
Incidentally, I tried my RISC PC earlier today, and that had stopped working too.
Perhaps Drobe could do the story "Crisis for Microsoft as network problems cut Windows off".
I do not have automatic updates set to install only to let me know if there are some available. 
At least that way I can install one patch at a time.
I watch Woodies web site at http://askwoody.com/ to let me know when to do an install. 
Woody writes books on PC's mainly the Dummies type.
There have been too many problems - as we have just seen on patches affecting PC's operation.
Vista I think does an automatic restore point before any patches and may be every day as well.
