I have sent an example of this problem directly to David, as an attachment in a separate e-mail, but I thought I should also post the information to this mailing-list. Note, I am not looking for advice on how better to organise my document, but am just attempting to describe a possible bug. I am using Ovation Pro for Windows to edit a small magazine. It contains three chapters: chapter 1 being the front cover; chapter 2, the inside pages and chapter 3, the back cover. I needed to update the inside page of the front cover. There are two local frames at the foot of this page, in addition to the default master page frame. The text I was editing was in the master page derived frame. I have auto-page-insert and auto-page-delete options turned off in the document preferences. The updates caused chapter 1 page 2 to overflow, pushing some text onto the "non-existent" next page (there was no visible indicator that this overflow had occurred). I manually inserted another page (chapter 1 page 3) after the inside front cover (chapter 1 page 2), making three pages in total for the chapter. The overflowing text was visible on this new page. I was then able to fiddle with the text so that it did fit on the second page of the chapter, leaving the third page empty. I next manually deleted the empty page 3. To my surprise, the two local frames, at the bottom of page 2, also vanished. I was able get around the problem by turning on auto-page-delete in the document preferences, placing the cursor in page 3 and pressing the "Backspace" key. This deleted page 3, but did not affect the two local frames at the foot of page 2. -- Paul Witheridge - Marlow, UK
