So the difference is something internal, unseen by the user - the
'modify line' dbox looks identical for both lines.
Yes you're right it is a case of things looking the same (which leaves
room for them not actually being the same at the 1/72000'ths of an inch
accuracy OP works at) but having got to that identical state by
different routes.
You could get vertical lines by drawing one at 45 degrees and then
rotating it, and starting at many angles. Those lines would look the
same, but internally they would be different initial lines stored with
different transforms.
I'm revealing how OP works internally, objects with transforms, a
decision taken before the program was written, it works reasonably well,
but there are catches. No doubt there would be different problems with
the other ways of organising things.
