[softwarelist] Re: Twain problem

I am using Twain 2.12. It says copyright 1993 but presumably is more
recent as is recognises USB. I only bought it from CJE Micros this
afternoon, but if there is another version, where can I find it? I
will upgrade DPScan, but, as you say, it is unlikely to make a
difference.

I've just emailed you the contents of the latest version of the Epson disc.

It's all a bit tricky. The main reason for new versions of the disc is that the Simtec driver has the id codes for scanners hardwired in to it. However there have been some changes over the years. But we're talking about a substantial time ago. Looking just now the last change to the Castle driver appears to be something like November 2004.

Try the version I have just sent. If it fails then read on

The 1650 (which is the model I have) has sometimes been a bit difficult. I'd be interested to know if after one hang, if you try it again does it work (problem here is waking up the scanner which is a 1650 speciality).

When it hangs what are you clicking on? Have you used the device menu to set the correct device (i.e. USB)? Have you installed the Castle version of the driver (as opposed to the Simtec)? Was TWAIN already installed on your computer?

Regardless of TWAIN, does the scanner show up on your Iyonix - USBInfo or whatever?
