Consider a transparent GIF (B&W image on a transparent background)
placed in a picture frame within an OPW document.
Forget "GIF", the question is an image with a transparency mask.
I thought transparency was more or less restricted to GIF and PNG (and
RISCOS sprite).
So, why am I getting the black rectangle using method 2? Can anyone
suggest how to resolve the problem and still get an editable PDF?
One idea is this, how do you print an image with a mask? Originally
windows didn't support them ...
Later versions of Windows *do* support masked images - why don't I use
this support? Well because not all printer drivers support them.
At first I thought it might be the type of image or transparency that
was the problem, and trawled the Internet for hours looking for a
solution. Nothing worked, so in a way I'm relieved to know it's a
limitation within OPW.
It seems obvious that it would be a good idea to use the new support for
masked images when printing to a PostScript driver, since there is
nothing to lose, and I'll see about making that change now.
Thanks, that would certainly be useful.
