Consider a transparent GIF (B&W image on a transparent background)
placed in a picture frame within an OPW document.
Forget "GIF", the question is an image with a transparency mask.
So, why am I getting the black rectangle using method 2? Can anyone
suggest how to resolve the problem and still get an editable PDF?
One idea is this, how do you print an image with a mask? Originally
windows didn't support them, the only way to render such images was to
print them twice using exclusive OR plotting. However that doesn't work
on all printer drivers - in particular not on PostScript.
Later versions of Windows *do* support masked images - why don't I use
this support? Well because not all printer drivers support them.
Somewhere along the way I used the new functions and got complaints
about printing not working.
It seems obvious that it would be a good idea to use the new support for
masked images when printing to a PostScript driver, since there is
nothing to lose, and I'll see about making that change now.
