Interesting comments. I wouldn't have guessed - perhaps that is not surprising.
Point (2) is the more unexpected - then again is it incorrect behaviour. I can see that often shifting the underline with the text is required, but then again e.g. with superscripts it might not be (<underline>My Paper About e<superscript>x</superscript></underline>)
Point (1) is probably just another example of the mess font attributes get into. I would assume that it is not just I(talic) on the info palette, but anything which sets Italics for that font which causes the problem.
