I thought I would have another go with SyncDiscs. One feature that
makes me less inclined to use it is that it doesn't multitask, which
means the machine hosting it is unusable for long periods of time now
that hard drive capacities are measured in the hundreds of GB.
It works fine from Iyonix to a LinkSys NAS (Network attached storage
device) with 2x320 GB USB drives, using LanMan98. However, it still
will not multitask, of course. I thought I would be clever, and run
SyncDiscs from the command line in a taskwindow, since that is a
common way to force command line binaries to multitask. However,
calling SyncDiscs this way, although it certainly works as far as
copying files etc, does not result in the taskwindow multitasking.
The computer is still unusable until the copying is finished.
Has anyone else ever tried to use SyncDiscs in a taskwindow, and if
so, have they had any success?
