Presumably the program assumes you don't do anything barmy like set up
recursive synchronisation. Some versions have the ability to ignore
certain zones (or paths). I suppose it would be easy enough to add your
scrap path to the zones.
Obviously ideally the program should protect you from such things, and
I've just outlined a simple way that it could be modified to do that.
