Yes I had hidden files showing, makes it easier to find the upteen 
temp word files that get dumped everywhere other than in the temp 
directory. Resets to hidden and tried again still fails with the same 
file even though you cannot see it now.

Looks like I will have to do a more selective 'sync', though the 
question of why it worked before obviously still remains.
