The situation with the Epson driver is mixed up.
There has been a lot of tinkering with it to deal with bugs, oddities of various models of scanner, the dual USB systems (both Simtec and Castle have had a go at the code), and adding new USB id codes. All against the background of the vanishing market. In other words, business as usual, there are no version numbers worth bothering with and no log of changes.
