I wonder what the value of wimp$scrap is? (F12, and show wimp$scrap). It
should point to !Scrap inside !Boot.
Some file types require random access to the file being saved - by which
I mean one writes the data, and then has to go back to the start of the
file to write some more information. On RISC OS files can be transferred
by RAM transfer or via the wimp scrap file - if you want to do random
access as you write, then the scrap file is the easier route.
