Yes, I can repeat that for lines thicker than 1mm going through 
Menu>Edit>Embed object for step 6.

I believe that here you try to force a redraw? (Try CtrlQ, is faster)

Indeed. Definitely not as expected.
 Using Vertical-Shift down the bottom edge of the frame moves down 
with the line while the top edge of the frame remains in situ.


On the other hand if you create a line in !Draw and then drag the file 
to the line of text, the "Draw"-line (Whatever size it has) will be 
embedded with the bottom edge on the text baseline.

Possibly David Pilling has some more thoughts on this problem.
