On the face of it, PDF import seems like it should be useful for filling
in forms that are provided as PDF files (where text has to be typed into
boxes or above dotted lines) --- i.e. extract individual pages from the
PDF and drop them into A4-size frames in an OPW document, then type your
text into text frames with a transparent background, and position the
text frames accordingly. However, I have run into a problem to which I
can't find an easy solution ...

The form you see on screen is a bitmap preview (I have the preview set
to 144dpi to make it readable, i.e. 4x the default resolution). The
printout is PostScript and what seems to happen is that the margins
(white space) are "cropped" so that the original printed area of the
form expands to occupy more or less the whole of the printable area of
the OPW page ... with the result that the text you typed in is no longer
in its original position with respect to the form boxes/dotted lines.

At first, I thought it might be possible to overcome the problem by either:

1) Crop the white space from the forms in Adobe Acrobat, before
importing them into OPW (and place them in frames that are smaller than
the A4 page area, to leave margins).

2) Import the PDF forms as they are into frames that correspond to the
size of the printed area of the form, then expand the image so that the
limits of the printed area correspond with the edges of the frame.

But neither of these works because, I suppose, you are not physically
removing the white space. Another solution would be to do the job in
ArtWorks or Adobe Illustrator. However, is there a solution within OPW
--- a way to get the PostScript output to respect the margins/white
space around the original PDF form?
