I'm curious to know why OPW displays the preview bitmap image
associated with an unsupported filetype (EMF) but not a supported
filetype (EPS)?
I wasn't aware that EMF could have a bitmap preview.
Apparently, it can ...
EPS can have either TIFF or WMF preview images. Bear in mind the
limitation that EMF can't be rendered to PostScript using direct PS, and
EPS can only be rendered to PostScript using direct PS.
I always forget about direct vs indirect PS.
I think EPS with preview does work, the problem is EPS generated from
PDF - probably there are commands setting the page size and upsetting
things.
Further investigation suggests it depends on the application that produced
the EPS. Preview doesn't seem to work with Artworks EPS or InkScape EPS.
But it will work with Illustrator EPS, where you have some control over
the type of preview generated.
Returning to the PDF import problem -- I can drop a PDF (e.g. my pdf form)
into Illustrator, save it out as EPS, and import the EPS into OPW, with no
change in size/alignment between preview and printout apparent.
Interestingly, this works with Illustrator 9 EPS, but not Illustrator 3
(blank page on printout).
On the other hand, PDF > Draw is an easier option, provided you also have
RISCOS. It would be nice if OPW could do the conversion directly.
