[softwarelist] Re: OvnPro 2.77 type 5 errors

This has led me to wonder whether the problem is related to redrawing
when some cache limit has been reached, a region is put out of the cache
and thus re-rendering is necessary.

Up to here it sounds like a memory effect. If there was something wrong with just one graphic one would expect that graphic alone in a document to go wrong.

The reason that this comes to mind is that I have a document
containing just the one grouped frame which, when added to the test
document, causes the crash. I can fill this other document with as many
copies of the offending frame (group) as I like and the crash does not
occur whatever I do.

Copying a graphic inside a document does not copy the graphic, it just creates a reference to it - look at the memory the document occupies it will not jump up as you copy.

Errm. a little voice is saying "AW files are copied to low memory for rendering". Did I do that? I'll have to look at the changes files.

However that explanation would not depend on the total of AW files in a document.

If you had any easy way of doing it, running Ovation so that it has 31 bit memory addresses would be interesting - amounts to running Ovation and nothing else.

There could be a problem like the crash occurs if AW image 1 is rendered after AW image 2, something in the code that is not re-initialised.
