Hi,
It is very easy to assign functions to key presses in Ovation Pro. Just
about anything you can think of can be assigned to any key combination.
So on the one hand don't moan about things not having key presses or the
key presses not being what you would like.
However there is a problem in that there's no way of seeing what key
presses are associated with what functions. You can assign the same key
to a style and to e.g. a new page code. The key presses shown on menus
can be overridden by keys defined in macros.
A good improvement would be a window that showed what the key presses
are and where they come from.
Anyway you have to be careful, it's easy to leave an old macro file
inside OP and have your key combinations behave oddly. Note that if you
have multiple definitions for the same key results will change from one
press of that key to the next.
Turning to new pages. It is possible to turn off automatic page deletion
or insertion. That lets you easily create a fixed size document.
(Misc->General Preferences).
Inserting pages or deleting them whilst automatic page insert/delete is
on, can be useful but after 20 years of meeting with glazed expressions
I am inclined to not start explaining it again 8-)
