Hi Dave, Am I right in thinking that the newer versions of Word can still output the old .doc format? If so, perhaps one solution is that if you receive a .docx file you ask the sender if they could resend the file as .doc, since you state that "Open Office can work perfectly okay on traditional Word document", this would seem a solution. Of course when you return the edited document save it as the old format since this can be read by newer versions of Word as well. Cheers Deri
