Yes, why not. As it stands, you can turn off printing of pictures, and there is the thing that if you print EPS on a non-PS printer it will print the low res preview.
Some days I sit watching my PostScript printer and think how much faster Laser Direct was. Then again I think how long from typing *wordwise to entering text and how long to get into todays text editor.
