The latter comment has some truth in it, but the former certainly isn't true.
I'd say a document editor which can't produce documents which are consistent
between different computer setups using the same version is a pretty BIG
limitation.

But the biggest limitation by far is that it thinks it knows better than the
user. Hm, come to think of it that's true of most Micro$oft s/w.

I haven't used this program called EasyWriter... ;-) But those of us who use
Easiwriter wouldn't agree with you. IME Word is illogical in the way it
works, Easiwriter is not.

I've followed this thread with interest, but I have resisted joining in until
now. One thing that strikes me as way off the mark is the argument that RISC
OS isn't the best because it can't do many things others can. This is a false
argument because the OS only provides the foundation for the applications
that do the 'useful things'. (Perhaps someone ought to tell Micro$oft that!)

I accept that RISC OS can't (easily) do all the things I need to do on a
computer, so I use a RISCBook to use Windows progs where I need to. However,
this does not negate the argument that RISC OS the best OS. RISC IS was
designed with the user in mind. Windows is still catching up on that score!
