As far as I can see saving a story as DDL is buggy. Even a toy example
with two text lines and a tiny embedded sprite frame produces invalid
DDL, which OP refuses to read back with an "Unknown object" error. The
picture frame references a named background colour that is not defined
in the file. If I edit the file to define the colour then loading the
edited file causes a Type5 error in OP.
So, as far as I can see saving a story as DDL is not really usable if
you have any graphics in your file.
