[softwarelist] Re: OPro RISC OS Mailmerge problem.

As far as I can see, there is no way of printing only a side at a time
when using mailmerge. In particular, setting "pause" in Print Setup
appears to have no effect. Is this really so, or am I doing something
wrong somewhere?

Pause can only work using the "old" RISC OS printing system, "old" here means pre 1991. Some applications have only ever used the "old" system, for example Impression. Others like Draw use the "new" system.

Ovation Pro gives you a choice.

"Where is that choice!" you cry.

Well, it is in Ovation Pro choices ->print->background

Page 223, in the book says:

"If Background printing is selected then there is no multitasking whilst rendering takes place. However you can use the computer whilst the data is spooled to the printer. (see 12.4 for a full discussion)."

Page 176 (12.4) tells the whole tale.

The choice is between background operation whilst rendering (lets you pause twixt pages) or background operation whilst the entire print job is fed to the printer.

Plan B, would be to use the facility to step through mail merge records and print them one by one. Depends how many pages you're going to print.
